TR19 Explained

TR19 is the recognised UK industry standard for the inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of commercial kitchen ventilation and extract systems.

Published by the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA), it provides clear, detailed guidance on how frequently grease extract ducts, canopy hoods, and associated ventilation systems must be professionally cleaned to minimise fire risk and ensure legal compliance.

TR19 Grease Compliance

Commercial kitchens produce large amounts of grease-laden air that builds up inside ductwork and extract systems over time. If left uncleaned, this grease becomes a serious fire hazard.

TR19 Grease Compliance requires regular, specialist cleaning of the entire extract system to remove combustible grease deposits.

Compliance is essential for insurance purposes, fire safety regulations, and to meet the requirements of local authorities and fire services.

Failure to comply can result in invalid insurance, enforcement notices, or even closure of the premises.

The TR19 Grease Certificate

After a thorough TR19-compliant clean, we issue an official TR19 Grease Certificate. This document provides independent proof that your kitchen extract system has been professionally inspected and cleaned to the current industry standard.

The certificate includes details of the cleaning carried out, the condition of the system, and recommended future cleaning intervals.

It is widely accepted by insurers, fire officers, and environmental health departments as evidence of due diligence and regulatory compliance.
